Congratulations to Ian Parsons 'Chelios'For those not in the know, Ian was born in 1836 in the small Hamlet of Basingstoke, Hampshire. After a distinguished career as the country’s first recorded hair model and a brief affair with Henry VIII’s second wife, Anne Boleyn, Ian took up the sport of hockey.
Due to the fact that the wheel was yet to be invented, he would improvise by strapping on leather bound sandals (borrowed from a young Mother Theresa) to his feet and use a small hooked shaped branch as his stick whilst a pig’s heart was used as a primitive version of what is now known as a “puck”.
Ian went on to become recognised as a founder and legend of the sport we love, winning back to back championships against the formidable teams of the era such as “Maid Marian and her band of merry men” and those fearsome goons, the “Norman Invaders”.
The Jag’s are thrilled to have a man of such experience training with the squad every Monday Night, still making time to sign autographs for is adoring fans after training at the Hen & Chicken public house.
Congratulations Ian on your selection, you deserve it.
